Making your own pasta is really easy and you probably already have the ingredients at home.
Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Flour
Pinch of salt (Optional)
Place the flour in a bowl and make an indent in the middle. Crack the eggs and place them in the middle of the flour. Begin scrambling the eggs mixing in the flour as you go. Mix until all ingredients are incorporated.
The dough will form a ball similar to bread dough. If the ball is too sticky, add a bit more flour. If it’s too dry to stick together, add a bit of water.
When the dough sticks together to form a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap. Place the ball in the fridge for at least a half hour.
Roll dough through a pasta maker/cutter. If you don’t have a Pasta Maker, you can roll the dough with a rolling pin until it is about 1/8 inch thick. Then cut into strips.
Hang the cut pasta to dry for 15 minutes. If you don’t have a pasta hanger, lay the pasta on cooling racks.
To cook the pasta, place the dried pasta in boiling water until it rises to the top. It only takes about 1 minute to cook fresh pasta. Freeze any uncooked pasta for later.
You can make gluten free pasta by using rice flour or bean flour. Add blended spinach or tomatoes for flavored pastas.
